Whatever Happened

I start this post with a *disclaimer.*

**DISCLAIMER: If you are a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, cousin, professor, person who sits inside every weekend night and twiddles their thumbs, people who doesn't condone drinking/hangovers, then this post isn't for you and I suggest clicking the "x" and exiting now.

Alright, now that I've weeded out those who might be offended by the topic of this post, I can continue.

I remember freshman year not wanting to stay out too late, knowing that I had lots of stuff to do the next days. I'd go out, come back at the normal hour, wake up at a normal hour, go get breakfast (seeing all the "biddies" doing their walk of shames in last night's clothes), do whatever I had to do, and then repeat. I had fun, don't get me wrong, but I was so worried about what I had to do that I cut short what I was doing.

I wish I woulda known to just go out, stay out super late, sleep super late, wake up, BMM a friend to get the Deli (aka the GW Deli, the best food on GW's campus), then sit around the talk about what did (or didn't happen). Seriously, that is the best hangover cure ever. Just sitting around with your friends and your hangover food and Bravo TV in the background is awesome.

I really really wish I woulda known that earlier. Being a senior, I've probably done this situation most weekends (sorry Mom and Dad! I told you to stop reading!!!) until sorority recruitment took over my life for two weeks.

Its really one of the best feelings ever to just sit around, eat greasy food (personal favorite - bacon, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel), and just laugh with your friends. It is just so relaxing and fun to just be a 21 year old and laugh about the crazy things you did (or didn't do) the night before. Its hilarious to talk about the weird people you met the night before. And before you know it, your headache will go away, your stomach will stop hurting, and your hangover will be gone. And you'll be super happy.

Looking back on my younger years, probably not going out so late and not drinking [a lot] when going out had made it easier for me to go and do this stuff this year. These rough mornings with my friends are already some of my fondest memories of college. They are chill, fun, and make me so happy that I spend my time with the people that I am friends with. Laughing with them this year is so worth it, and although I wish I woulda known how great this was earlier, I'm so thankful I've learned it now.

Bring on the rest of senior year.

Always,
Caroline

  1. The best adivice anyone ever gave me was "You won't remember the extra hour you spent in the library studying on a Friday night... but you will remember the random hour you spent lost in a cab with your best friends in Southwest DC."

  2. Nothing like a Deli bagel to wake you up on a Saturday morning! Next time drop one off in my room!

  3. I must say those bagels have "saved my life" a couple mornings. So true, nothing better than some deli comfort food to get you through a rough Saturday or Sunday (or hey sometimes even Friday) mornings.

  4. You're so right, GW deli is the best cure to any morning that starts off as a struggle!

  5. Agreed with everybody here. GW Deli is the best! I even get food there when I'm not hungover!

  7. I have heard mixed reviews on college. Some people say it is the best time in your life with no real responsibility and constant partying where others say once you get out of college the real fun begins. I guess it just depends on your idea of a good time.

  8. a certain professor, not this one of course, but i've heard professors speak to this on certain occasions, when they aren't twiddling there thumbs staying home on saturday nights, will contend that these nights do not end (though they may happen on a thursday, which is so inconvenient) and that bacon egg and cheese is a cure for pretty much anything. Onward to a long life of big nights out.
